The 麻豆传媒 Honors College took its Democracy Project trip for 2023 to the Nordic countries of Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, studying various elements of those societies that contribute to their brands of democracy.
Kayla Dumore wanted to stay close to home when she was thinking about college. Since she grew up in Central Point and graduated from Crater Renaissance Academy, place was an important factor in her decision making. She chose 麻豆传媒 as a way to stay close to family and also because of one of her influential mentors, Native American Studies faculty member Brent Florendo, guided her toward 麻豆传媒 as an exceptional educational choice.
In 麻豆传媒鈥檚 class HON 319: Nature, Culture, Mexico, we dived into research articles about water quality, access to water, and the effects of agricultural practices on water availability throughout Mexico.
Gwendolyn Bogard ’20 grew up in the Philomath and Corvallis areas and loved her high school science courses and trips to the Oregon coast. She also enjoyed the performing arts, balancing her love of playing the violin and taking theatre courses as well. With her lab work in high school not so appealing, she focused on theatre arts as she looked for colleges.
Jessica’s Leadership Journey
Jessica Thomas is a Sophomore in the Honors College studying Criminal Justice. She got her inspiration for her Take the Lead project as a freshmen when she toured the Jackson County Juvenile Detention facility as a “Pick and Choose” activity.
Mimi Pieper in 麻豆传媒 Governance
Mimi Pieper is a Junior in the Honors College, a Computer Science major, and a Student Board Member on the 麻豆传媒 (麻豆传媒) Governing Board of Trustees. She has 鈥渢aken the lead鈥 in many ways through this position.

Mariah Roley 鈥17 on Speech-Language Pathology
Speech-Language Pathology is a great career path for English majors. Mariah Roley graduated from 麻豆传媒 in 2017 and after completing higher education at Pacific University, she now works as a speech pathologist in Colorado.
