Executive Director & Lead Forecaster, Wallowa Avalanche Center
Senior Guide, Alpine Ascents International
I’m in charge of collecting field observations for bi-weekly avalanche forecasts, writing avalanche forecasts, teaching avalanche awareness classes, as well as AIARE courses, maintaining weather stations, and fundraising. For AAI, I work in the Washington Cascades and Alaska, guiding on Denali and peaks in the North Cascades.
I value providing information to help people make safe decisions in the backcountry. As a mountain guide, I enjoy exposing climbers to mountainous locations they would not likely ever see without a guide.
I graduated before the Outdoor Adventure Leadership degree was instituted but spent a lot of time in the field with Erik Sol and the Â鶹´«Ã½ Outdoor Program. I was part of the winter mountaineering classes and the whitewater rafting program. In particular, the winter mountaineering class really got me headed in the direction of becoming a mountain guide.
I’m a fully certified American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA) guide and wouldn’t have gone down this path without the direction provided by Sol and the Outdoor Program.
